Job purpose:

This is a mid-level client-facing role focused on delivering complex tax compliance and advisory work with minimal supervision. The Senior Consultant manages multiple assignments, conducts detailed technical analyses, liaises with clients and tax authorities, and contributes to the development of junior team members. The role requires strong technical knowledge, client service skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality work within deadlines.

Major duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare and review corporate tax returns and computations for accuracy.
  • Advise clients on tax compliance, reporting, and planning matters.
  • Draft technical reports, memos, and advisory documents for managerial review.
  • Liaise directly with tax authorities during audits and queries.
  • Conduct research and provide insights on domestic and international tax developments.

Qualifications:

Education requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA, ACCA, CTA, ACA, or equivalent certification in progress or completed.

Work experience requirements:

  • 4–5 years of experience in corporate tax advisory and compliance.
  • Experience within a consultancy or Big Four environment is highly preferred.

Knowledge / Technical Skills

  1. Solid knowledge of local and international tax regulations.
  2. Proficient in financial reporting and tax accounting principles.
  3. Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
  4. Experience with ERP or tax automation tools is a plus.

Relevant Skills And Behaviors

Core and technical skills
  • 3-4 years of experience in Indirect Tax, specifically VAT in the GCC region.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields with a strong academic background.
  • Professional qualifications such as ADIT, ACA, CPA, ACCA, Masters in Taxation, or Legal qualifications are preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in Indirect Tax, including VAT compliance, advisory, audits, assessments, and due diligences. Experience in Excise and Customs duties is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of tax accounting, business development, client relationship management.
  • Strong risk management skills, including documentation and escalation procedures.
  • Practice management skills such as handling debtors, timesheets, billing, and follow-ups.
  • Excellent report writing skills, capable of producing clear tax reports and opinions.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain lasting relationships internally and externally.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, strategic thinking, and project management skills.
  • Highly motivated, achievement-oriented, and able to prioritize and work independently or in teams.
  • Personal integrity, results-driven, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to high-quality standards and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic and other languages are an advantage.
