Senior Engineers: Overhead Transmission Lines
Qualification Requirement
Minimum: Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.Sc./B.Eng.)
Membership of an internationally recognized Professional Institute is desirable.
Experience Level Needed
Over 10 years’ experience in OHL detailed design work in a consultancy firm or engineering division of a large EPC company.
Ideal Candidate Specification
- Assume responsibility for detailed design of Overhead Transmission Lines up to 400KV.
- Carry out Sag Tension calculations, Plan and Profile drawings using PLS CADD or Sag-Ten software, and prepare purchase specifications, material lists, and data sheets.
- Review Pole and Tower drawings, conductor sizing, and insulator and hardware drawings; interface with civil design for pole and tower foundation.
- Manage interfaces with other disciplines.
- Identify potential applications for new technologies.
- Perform all work in a safe manner and contribute to a safe work environment, encouraging safe work practices from supervised staff.
- Provide and promote effective communications between colleagues and senior staff.
- Extensive experience in front end and detailed design.
- Experience of working within an ISO 9001 QA environment.
- Good knowledge of applicable design standards and codes gained from a European power design environment (i.e., IEC, IEEE, ISO, and BS).
- Demonstrate initiative and flexibility both as an individual and as a strong team player, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
- Extensive experience in front end and detailed design for power and O&G.
- Fluent in written and spoken English with good technical skills applied to producing reports; must be computer literate in the use of MS Office applications.
- Experience of working within an ISO 9001 QA environment.
- Good knowledge of applicable design standards and codes gained from a European power design environment (i.e., IEC, IEEE, ISO, and BS).
- Field experience in construction and commissioning would be advantageous.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer with expertise in structural engineering, reservoir design, and pipeline systems to lead and oversee major infrastructure and utility projects in Oman. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, design, and supervision of structural systems related to water storage, transmission pipelines, and related civil infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead structural design for reinforced concrete and steel structures, including water reservoirs, tanks, and valve chambers.
- Plan, design, and supervise pipeline networks (water, sewage, or oil & gas), including alignment studies, hydraulic analysis, and material selection.
- Prepare technical specifications, BOQs, detailed design drawings, and design reports.
- Ensure compliance with relevant international standards (e.g., ACI, ASCE, API, ISO, BS) and Omani codes/regulations.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, hydrology, and mechanical engineers.
- Conduct site visits, condition assessments, and structural inspections.
- Provide technical leadership during the construction phase including RFIs, shop drawing reviews, and quality control.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices and design methods.
- Interface with clients, contractors, and government authorities to ensure successful project delivery.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and ensure design integrity.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; Master's degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in structural engineering and pipeline/reservoir design, with at least 3 years in a senior/lead role.
- Proven experience working in GCC countries, preferably Oman.
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis software (STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000) and pipeline design tools.
- Familiarity with hydraulic modeling software (e.g., EPANET, WaterCAD) is a plus.
- PMP or Chartered Engineer status is an advantage.
