Job Description

Training operates in a shared service environment, a central unit providing HR-related services to a user base of 10,000 Employees, Managers & HR Business Partners at Al-Futtaim. We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Training Officer to work from our HR Shared Service Centre in Oman.

Your duties will include:
  1. Create and encourage positive, energetic, memorable, and productive learning environments for all delegates/participants.
  2. Complete ongoing self-assessment of training programme content and delivery to promote continuous improvement.
  3. Support the coordination and monitoring of all distributor training to ensure brand and distributor compliance.
  4. Contribute to analyzing standard performance reports, operational non-compliance, and executing structured action plans.
  5. Ensure active promotion and continuous improvement of staff and customer engagement activities.
  6. Develop training content and materials for front-line (non-technical) staff in distributor and retail branches.
  7. Conduct competency testing as required.
  8. Actively promote equal opportunities and diversity in accordance with company policy, avoiding discrimination.
  9. Assist with the orientation, training, and coaching of staff, management, and other stakeholders to increase workplace efficiency.
  10. Participate in and ensure adherence to company and distributor policy and procedure compliance.
  11. Ensure the successful implementation of distributor commercial training, 'fix it right' activities, value chain, and brand training activities.
  12. Monitor, review, and implement occupational health and safety, operational standards, and technical support training activities.
  13. Support branches as required with training related to campaigns, customer initiatives, and new model launches.
  14. Ensure compliance with respective brand requirements and adherence to all distributor policies.

Reports To: HSE Manager / Training Manager

Job Purpose:

The HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality training and educational programs that promote safe work practices, environmental awareness, and regulatory compliance across various industries. The role requires expertise in health, safety, and environmental regulations, and the ability to teach and assess learners effectively in both classroom and field settings whenever required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Training Delivery:
  2. Conduct engaging and informative training sessions on a variety of HSE topics, including but not limited to workplace safety, risk management, emergency response, environmental sustainability, hazardous materials handling, and compliance with local and international regulations.
  3. Develop and implement training programs and curricula that meet industry standards and organizational requirements.
  4. Lead both theoretical and practical training, using diverse instructional methods to accommodate different learning styles.
  5. Assess trainees’ knowledge and skills through tests, drills, and evaluations to ensure competency in HSE practices.
  6. Develop training materials, including presentations, manuals, safety documents, and practical exercises.
  7. Continuously update training content to reflect changes in legislation, industry best practices, and emerging risks.
  8. Tailor training programs to address specific needs of the organization or industry sector (e.g., construction, oil & gas, manufacturing).
  9. Compliance & Reporting:
  10. Ensure training programs comply with all relevant local, state, and federal HSE regulations.
  11. Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, certifications, and performance evaluations.
  12. Assist in the preparation of reports for management and regulatory bodies on training outcomes and compliance status.
  13. Consultation & Support:
  14. Provide on-site consultation and support to employees and management on HSE matters.
  15. Assist with the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
  16. Support HSE audits and inspections by ensuring the workforce is well-trained and prepared for compliance checks.
  17. Participate in continuous professional development to stay up-to-date on current HSE trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
  18. Solicit feedback from trainees and stakeholders to improve the effectiveness of training programs.
  19. Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the organization.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Education:
  2. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  3. Relevant HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  4. Experience:
  5. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HSE roles, with at least 2 years in a training or instructional capacity.
  6. Hands-on experience in conducting safety training for various industries.
  7. Familiarity with relevant HSE laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  8. Skills:
  9. Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  10. Ability to assess and evaluate trainee performance and knowledge retention.
  11. Proficient in using training tools and technology, such as e-learning platforms and presentation software.
  12. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple training programs concurrently.
