As Operations Shift Manager, you'll be at the heart of shift operations, overseeing the seamless movement of cargo across landside and vessel-side operations. What You'll Be Doing

  • Supervising all cargo-related activities across vessel discharge/loading, warehousing, delivery, and logistics, ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards
  • Planning and monitoring berth allocations, labour, and equipment requirements in coordination with yard planners
  • Briefing shift supervisors, monitoring real-time performance, and making on-the-spot operational decisions
  • Driving safety culture by ensuring team training and compliance with HSSE standards
  • Managing delivery logistics and supervising cargo handling accuracy and quality
  • Liaising with customers, port stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth operational flow
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps and collaborating on solutions

What You'll Bring to the Table

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in maritime, port, or terminal operations, with hands-on knowledge of cargo and logistics processes
  • Proven experience in vessel loading and unloading, particularly with project cargo and break bulk, is essential

  • Competency in relevant systems including Navis (MTN), HRMS, EXB, and Microsoft Office

The Role

What You'll Do

The day-to-day

  • Work closely with OPS WIL and Global Purchasing team and Finance as required
  • Monitoring project progress, quality, and performance against established goals
  • Preparing and submitting regular reports on field activities and project status
  • Ensuring work meets quality standards and SLA
  • Identifying and resolving problems that arise during field operations
  • Providing training and development opportunities for field ops staff
  • Managing project budgets and controlling costs (cost saving initiative)
  • Interacting with clients or stakeholders as required or needed
  • Ensure accuracy of equipment inventory and safeguarding assets.
  • Review and approve field ops timesheet and overtime computation to International payroll/HR for payment process before the next payroll cycle
  • As supporting role you will be collaborating with local regulators (Oman TRA, Chamber of Commerce, local banking, ROP, vendors, customs authority etc as required for successful operations)

  • Strong managerial skills, 5 years of experience with managing the team of at least 5 direct reports

What You'll Do
At Viasat Energy Services in Oman, you will oversee country-wide field operations servicing predominantly Oil and Gas customers on land and offshore. You will manage a dynamic team of field technicians, vehicle fleet, and overall day-to-day operations to meet internal and customer commitments.

The day-to-day

  • Directly oversee and guide the field operations team, ensuring proper training and equipment
  • Plan and assign tasks, manage schedules, and ensure timely completion of work
  • Facilitate communication between field teams, other departments, and management
  • Resolve conflicts and address issues in the field and with the team
  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
  • Provide on-site safety training and guidance to the field operations team
  • Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of company assets and vehicles
  • Report vehicle, safety incidents, or hazards promptly and create reports for Ops
  • Coordinate with Area Manager, HSE, P&C, and participate in planning and execution of operations and projects
  • Manage resources, ensuring adequate spare equipment, consumables, and materials
  • Create and submit equipment/material cost estimates for purchasing and AFE creation
  • Work closely with OPS WIL, Global Purchasing, and Finance teams
  • Monitor project progress, quality, and performance against goals
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on field activities and project status
  • Ensure work meets quality standards and SLAs
  • Identify and resolve problems during field operations
  • Provide training and development for field staff
  • Manage project budgets and control costs, implement cost-saving initiatives
  • Interact with clients or stakeholders as needed
  • Ensure accuracy of equipment inventory and safeguard assets
  • Review and approve timesheets and overtime for payroll processing
  • Collaborate with local regulators (Oman TRA, Chamber of Commerce, ROP, vendors, customs, etc.) for successful operations

What You'll Need

  • Strong managerial skills, with at least 5 years managing a team of 5 or more
  • Omani national required
  • Experience in Field Operations and Project Management
  • Experience in Telecommunications, preferably with VSAT and networking equipment
  • Experience in Oil and Gas field operations with local operators
