As an Ubuntu Release Engineer, you must be passionate about the future of Ubuntu, about quality and continuous integration and testing. You will research existing issues, troubleshoot and resolve problems, and identify opportunities for improvement and communicate them to the rest of the organization to drive the overall quality of Ubuntu. What your day will look like
- Monitor indicators of quality across the Ubuntu ecosystem and products
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in Ubuntu Desktop, Ubuntu Server and Ubuntu Core
- Enhance our continuous integration to guard Ubuntu image, release and package quality
- Report on KPIs and analytical insights
- Empower other teams for better planning and constant quality improvements
- Develop, enhance and automate test cases, from unit tests to end-to-end multi machine workloads

- A strong software engineering, Linux, and open source background

Job Description
1. JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for ensuring that Lab Technicians and QC Inspectors perform their tasks according to the established standards and that raw materials used in manufacturing are tested prior to use.
2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Production Quality Standards (Pipes):
- Organize and supervise subordinates to ensure efficient and compliant QC activities.
- Ensure manufacturing procedures meet applicable standards and client specifications.
- Verify that only approved raw materials are used to maintain product quality.
- Inspect and test finished pipes to ensure compliance before release and delivery.
- Assist PED during production and testing of new product lines and trials.
Third Party Inspections
- Conduct third-party inspections and review documentation for product release to ensure customer requirements are met.
Product Qualification Tests (Pipes)
- Calibrate all pipe testing and measuring equipment.
- Conduct product qualification tests in coordination with the QA Engineer.
- Update company product qualifications in line with local and international regulations.
Non-conforming Product Control
- Identify raw materials that do not meet specifications and coordinate corrective actions.
- Identify substandard products and share information with relevant personnel.
- Initiate corrective actions to ensure compliance and minimize losses.
Inventory:
- Monitor monthly store inventory checks for major raw materials.
- Prepare and submit monthly stock reports to relevant managers.
Employee Effectiveness
- Promote employee engagement and team effectiveness.
- Conduct annual performance appraisals and provide feedback.
- Set objectives and targets for subordinates annually.
HSE:
- Comply with safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
- Use PPE and safety gear as required.
- Maintain clean and organized operational areas.
- Report unsafe acts, incidents, or violations.
- Develop a safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE policies.
- Participate in QHSE audits and incident reviews.
3. SPAN OF COMMUNICATION
Internal: General Manager, QA/QC & HSE Manager, Plant Manager, All Line Managers.
External: Third-party inspection bodies, customer representatives, suppliers.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial).
- Fluency in English.
Preferred Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of QC experience in a medium-to-large manufacturing company.
- Strong product experience in fiberglass applications.
Job-Specific Skills:
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Management System.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant international standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
