Data Analytics & Dashboard Specialist

Reports To:

Project Manager / Data Analytics Team Lead

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new dashboards and insights based on management requirements.
  • Enhance existing dashboards with improved visuals and functionalities.
  • Research and implement new visualization techniques and innovative reporting methods.
  • Perform data analysis and correlation across multiple systems to provide actionable insights.
  • Assist in migrating Power BI on-premise reports to Power BI Cloud as part of cloud transition.
  • Support areas such as Gateway installation and Direct Query configurations.
  • Collaborate with vendors to understand database structures and integrate data sources.
  • Deliver approximately 25 dashboards covering 5–6 systems/applications.
  • Conduct training sessions, knowledge transfer, and user upskilling.
  • Prepare and hand over full documentation of all developed dashboards.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant IT experience in Data Analytics and Dashboard development.
  • Strong expertise in Power BI (on-premise & cloud) and Qlik.
  • Proficiency in DAX programming and MS Excel.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server and SharePoint Lists (on-premise).
  • Familiarity with Power BI Cloud transition, Direct Query, and Gateway setup.
  • Ability to analyze data models, database structures, and provide meaningful insights.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to train and mentor others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in government or public sector analytics projects.
  • Familiarity with Oman government standards
  • SME-level expertise in dashboarding tools and analytics.

Expected Deliverables:

  • ~25 Dashboards developed and integrated from 5–6 systems.
  • Migration of selected Power BI reports from on-premise to cloud.

The role of an Engineering Manager at Canonical

As an Engineering Manager at Canonical, you must be technically strong, but your main responsibility is to run an effective team and develop the colleagues you manage. You will develop and review code as a leader, while at the same time staying aware of that the best way to improve the product is to ensure that the whole team is focused, productive and unblocked.

You are expected to help them grow as engineers, do meaningful work, do it outstandingly well, find professional and personal satisfaction, and work well with colleagues and the community. You will collaborate closely with other Engineering Managers, product managers, and architects, producing an engineering roadmap with ambitious and achievable goals.

We expect Engineering Managers to be fluent in the programming language, architecture, and components that their team uses, in this case popular open-source machine learning tools like Kubeflow, MLFlow, and Feast.

Code reviews and architectural leadership are part of the job. The commitment to healthy engineering practices, documentation, quality and performance optimisation is as important, as is the requirement for fair and clear management, and the obligation to ensure a high-performing team.

Location: This is a Globally remote role.

  • A proven track record of professional experience of software delivery
  • Professional python development experience, preferably with a track record in open source

  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex datasets as directed by management and present findings via dashboards.
