Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Define and evolve the desktop architecture (UI, networking stack, background services, update/installer strategy, observability, error handling).
  • Establish engineering standards (coding, testing, threat modeling, performance SLOs) and champion best practices across the team.
  • Break down complex problems, make sound trade-offs, and communicate decisions clearly.

Development & Implementation

  • Handle OS-level capabilities & permissions (UAC/elevation flows, service privileges, registry & file ACLs, background tasks, app capabilities).

Security & Hardening

  • Design for least privilege and defense-in-depth; mitigate DLL hijacking, code injection, and privilege escalation paths.
  • Own code signing (Authenticode) and safe install/update flows (SmartScreen-friendly, rollbackable, tamper-resistant)

Quality, Observability & Release

  • Drive automated quality: unit, integration, and (where feasible) UI tests; guardrails in CI/CD (GitHub Actions).
  • Instrument with ETW, Microsoft.Extensions.Logging, Serilog/NLog, and profile with WPR/WPA, dotnet-trace/dump, PerfView, Sysinternals.
  • Package and ship with MSIX (preferred), WiX Toolset 4 (custom installers).
  • Define update strategies (delta packages, background updates, version pin/rollback).
  • Partner with Product/Design on UX, and Backend/DevOps on protocols, performance, and rollout plans.
  • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers via code reviews, pairing, and design docs; raise the technical bar.
  • Communicate status/risks crisply, keep stakeholders aligned, and model professionalism and ownership.

  16. Set milestones for the activities undertaken by the support team, set up strategic goals to improve overall performance, manage human and infrastructure resources, and coordinate between various groups within the Bank's IT department.
  17. Assist the support team in making proper decisions and using the right methodology during application development.
  18. Review the architecture, design, specifications, and technical documents related to any enhancement.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor/Master degree in Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or Physical Science.
  • Certification in IBM Websphere Message Broker and Websphere MQ.
  • Relevant technology-related professional certifications desirable.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience managing large complex teams of distributed resources (direct and indirect reports).
