Experience: 10-12 years, experience in Design and Detailing of Civil and Structural Works in Substations (Grid, Pooling), Power plant projects, Construction Industry, Oil and Gas, Fertilizer industry, Refineries, Thermal Power Plants, essentially covering Design of Precast, RCC Cast Insitu and Steel Buildings and Electrical Equipment Support Structures and Foundations
Should be well versed in design using American Standards. Exposure to UAE Standards is a must.
Objective: The person shall be responsible for the complete design and detailed engineering for Substations. The Design Lead shall manage and review the entire design documents and drawings for a project or a set of smaller projects including co-ordination with other disciplines viz., Electrical, instrumentation and Mechanical.
Design Lead shall co-ordinate with Design Consultants and manage the Engineering activities within budget, deliver on time and maintaining a high quality of engineering
Key Responsibilities:
- Review of detail drawings for Precast / Steel or RCC Cast Insitu Buildings and foundation for all buildings and equipments
- Review of structure design and its foundation, equipment foundations design for Substations projects.
- Analysis, design and detailing of Substation Structures and its components
- Design and Detailing of Substation Equipment foundations
- Submission of design document and drawings to client for approval
- Maintaining Document Control Index (DCI) for Document Tracking
- Coordination with Site Team and Client to meet the requirements of design and drawings
- Checking BOQ and material with respect to previous projects
- Preparation of DBR scope of work for Project Engineering
- Interaction with Client for Drawing Approval and Clarification
- Interaction with Site for Clarification on drawing

Technical Expertise:
Design Lead shall be capable of executing the engineering activities for civil & structural for Substation works & related interlinking works with the Grid. Design Lead shall be able to review Vendor engineering documents with respect to Civil & Structural design.
The Design Lead is required to be well versed in Analysis and Design & Engineering co-ordination for
- RCC (Precast & Cast Insitu) & Steel Structure Buildings.
- Outdoor Gantry & equipment Structures,
- Transformer/Reactor Foundations & Soak Pit,
- Site grading for Substation works
- Other outdoor services like drainage system, roads, cable trenches, etc. for Substation
The Design Lead should also have detailed knowledge of Substation equipment and their Layouts.
Furthermore, Design Lead should have the basic and detailed understanding of civil & structural drawings, GA drawings of equipment & gantry towers, foundation for transformers & other electrical equipment in Substation & Transmission Lines.
