OverviewElectrical Technician role at Marafiq - CUC responsible for maintenance, overhaul and repair of electrical equipment, in accordance with quality and safety standards to ensure reliable operation with minimum downtime.
Responsibilities- Electrical Maintenance : Perform skilled maintenance, overhaul and repair of equipment such as Low Voltage/Medium Voltage electric motors, large turbo-alternators of 20 MW and above, Medium/Low Voltage panels, switchgear, substations, High Voltage overhead power lines and other electrical equipment such as AC UPS and DC UPS systems and their battery banks. The technician shall have in‑depth knowledge on workshop overhauling of motors including necessary reconditions as required. The technician shall be capable of carrying out troubleshooting on LV panels, LV motor control systems, MV motor control systems, DOL starter troubleshooting, LV VFD troubleshooting. Preference given to candidates with hands-on independent experience. Repair and fabricate mechanical parts related to electrical equipment (pipes, clamps, fittings, etc.).
- Electrical Troubleshooting : Conduct troubleshooting for all LV and MV switchgear and repairs of machinery. Assist the Electrical Engineer and Team Lead in troubleshooting control systems related to synchronization, 132 KV GIS controls, etc.
- Report Submission : Submit reports to the Line Manager on agreed intervals to update on machinery performance and supply levels.
- Required Tools & Resources : Obtain electrical-related supplies such as spares, materials, special tools and equipment to ensure smooth operations.
- Usage of Electrical Equipment : Hands-on experience with Digital Multimeters, insulation testing equipment (IR & PI), thermography equipment, clamp meters, and related tools.
- Inspections : Conduct regular inspections of machinery to ensure compliance with procedures and quality standards. Perform programmed checks to diagnose faults by feel, sight or sound; carry out minor repairs and notify Line Manager of more serious malfunctions for corrective action with approval, and collaborate with other divisions.
- Preventive Maintenance : Implement routine and preventive maintenance plans to keep electrical machinery operational.
- Other Related Responsibilities : Keep records of repairs and maintenance tasks, materials used, and machine information to assist the next shift. Read engineering drawings and manuals. Comply with departmental policies and procedures to meet procedural and legislative requirements.
- Health, Safety & Quality : Comply with health, safety and quality requirements to ensure employee safety and regulatory compliance. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and keep abreast of changes and trends, recommending actions to the Line Manager as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Senior Electrical high school, plus 2 years of formal training in electrical trades
- Proficiency in English or Arabic is a must
More than 6 years of experience in carrying out Preventive, Predictive and Corrective Maintenance activities related to Electrical Maintenance in Power Plant RO Plant, Oil and Gas Installations, Refineries or petrochemical industry. Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience in a Large Gas Turbine based Power Plant.
Skills and Competencies- Generic Skills: Communication skills, computer literacy (ERP), Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word).
- Job Specific Skills: Problem-solving, analytical thinking, physical ability, teamwork, ability to interpret technical manuals and keep accurate records, knowledge in maintaining and repairing different electrical machinery.
