We are hiring a Senior/Staff/Lead Engineer to join the Launchpad team and shape the future of open-source collaboration. Launchpad is a platform for managing open-source development projects, including code hosting and review, bug tracking, package building, translations, and other facilities used by free and open-source software developers. This is a remote role based in the EMEA region; candidates will be expected to be located within this region.

• Influence and drive design, architecture, and feature decisions across distributed teams to ensure high-impact solutions.
• Craft exceptional, API-first Python code with unit tests, delivering robust, well-structured systems that scale.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges, implementing high-quality fixes that enhance performance and reliability.
• Mentor and uplift fellow engineers, lead code reviews that reinforce best practices and elevate team excellence.
• Work remotely while staying globally engaged; travel internationally 2 to 4 times a year to collaborate in internal discussions and external events, expanding your network and shaping innovation on a global stage.

• You are familiar with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.
• You have a solid grasp of software packaging systems, including Debian/Ubuntu packages.
• You have a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or similar degree.

Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Software Engineer to join our team and play a key role in building and maintaining our next-generation applications. You will leverage your expertise in both frontend and backend development to create robust, scalable, and user-friendly experiences.

Responsibilities (Mandatory):

1. Design, develop, and maintain highly functional and performant web applications using React JS / Vue JS leveraging the micro frontend architecture.
2. Implement backend services using Java Spring with a focus on microservices architecture.
3. Utilize Apache Kafka for efficient message streaming and communication between services.
4. Integrate and configure Apache Camel for seamless integration with external systems.
5. Interact with various SQL databases for data persistence and retrieval.
6. Utilize Git for version control and collaboration.
7. Actively participate in unit testing, code quality review, and peer review.

Qualifications

1. Proven experience as a Software Engineer with a strong understanding of both frontend and backend development.
2. Proficiency in React JS / Vue JS, understanding of micro frontend concepts.
3. Solid knowledge of Java Spring and microservices architecture.
4. Experience working with Kafka for message queuing.
5. Experience with SQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
6. Familiarity with Apache Camel for integration tasks.
7. Strong understanding of Git and version control practices.
8. Specialized in unit testing and integration testing like Jest, JUnit, Postman.
9. Active participation in code quality review and peer review.

Additional Information

1. Experience with Elasticsearch for search functionality.
2. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS / Azure.
3. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and practices.
4. Experience with Tyk Open-Source API Gateway / Kong Gateway.
5. Knowledge of JSON, YAML, XML.
6. Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker.
