Job Description
You will maintain effective communication with the Shift Leader at all times and complete activities on the preventive maintenance schedule as specified in hotel plans by following all safety procedures while carrying out any tasks. You will responsible to look after all the tools supplied by the Hotel in a professional manner, and correctly maintain and deposit them after finishing the shift and to suggest cost saving ideas as and when possible, not limited to the Engineering Department. Your main focus will be maintaining the swimming pools of the hotel.
Job Description For General Technician
- Respond and attend to guest repair requests.
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests.
- Understand and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and boiler systems.
- Very good, detailed knowledge on RO plant, Generator, Boiler, Fire pumps, Fire panels
- Communicate with different types of people to comprehend what they want and to provide them with information and assistance.
- Check for new maintenance requests from the Massage box and update remarks once the task is completed.
- Update the maintenance work order form for the message box.
- Ability to interpret readings from meters & gauges and other measuring units.
- Ability to focus attention on details, speed and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information.
- Ability to ensure security of guest room access and hotel property.
- Ability to read and understand test equipment, measuring devices, and safety manuals.
- Preform maintenance activities in the guest room like plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners / HVAC and AC ducts.
- Perform maintenance activities in hotel public areas like plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, plumbing and electrical equipment and cosmetic items.
- Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties.
- Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment.
- To clean, lubricate, protect, and otherwise maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel.
- To operate as an independent mechanic by analyzing problems, identifying courses of action, and implementing solutions with available resources and to a high degree of quality.
- To be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect guests and associates and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency.
- To monitor fire Alarm / Life Safety System systems as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and to handle emergencies involving the systems.
- Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical parts breakdown.
- Carry out specific oral and written instructions.
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.
- Maintains the hotel facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Engineering Supervisor or Chief Engineer.
- Train and instruct other members of the staff through sharing of knowledge and skills.

Education/Experience/Background:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions). Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Six months to two years of experience in a related position and environment with knowledge of the methods, techniques, and practices of water/wastewater treatment.
- Must consistently demonstrate the ability to learn and independently operate assigned machines and equipment meeting or exceeding processing and quality targets.
- Must demonstrate ability to learn and independently operate equipment such as pumps, engines, centrifuge, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, sludge processing filters, belt presses and measuring/control devices, testing equipment and material handling equipment.
- Must demonstrate a working ability to use computer programs for process control.
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
- Must be able to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required by site.
- Employee Orientation, Departmental Operating Procedures, Safety, OSHA and Quality Training.
- HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) Level I and II certification within 6 months of hire date if required by site.
- Cross-training if feasible.
- Must become proficient in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), including respirators, gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.)
- Forklift Certification if required at site. Work toward higher level water treatment certification.
- May perform more advanced functions as part of training and development.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
- Amount of time spent – Standing 25%, Walking 75% for as many as five miles per shift.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch and enter confined spaces.
- May be required to use ladders or stairs.
- The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (occasionally 60 pounds).
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Requires close visual observation to detect process non-conformance and machine malfunction.

Key Duties And Responsibilities
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done. Anantara employees always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their colleagues. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:
- Clearly understands the concept of guest services center being the one point of contact for guests.
- Ensures adherence to:
- Proper and prompt handling of calls
- Message handling
- Compliance with request as per SOP
- Usage of standard phraseology
- Taking Invilla dining orders
- Handling seaplane and domestic bookings
- Ensures adherence to duty roster and is punctual.
- Ensures that work areas, PABX are properly maintained and cleaned.
- Is updated of VIP/RSVP etc. and repeat guest list.
- Performs duties of guest services when necessary.
- Maintains order in guest service center area and provides communications facilities in case of emergency, during emergencies handles all communications until ordered to leave the premises by a superior except in case of imminent personnel danger.
- Is aware of all the characteristics of the resort, the names, positions and responsibilities of each division head and department head, the extension numbers and the use, location of equipment.
- Ensures that traffic sheet for telephone / fax are correct before sending to the accounting dept.
- Ensures immediate transmission of invoices to the cashiers / front desk.
- Has complete knowledge of the resort and services, including villa types, rates, relative features and facilities, food and beverage outlets and promotions, spa and health club, and other properties. (Especially the competition).
- Ensure to have all the F & B, Spa, activities menu and other information’s for quick referral to guest enquires.
- Ensures that all guest requests are channelled correctly and followed upon effectively.
- Conducts courtesy calls for all in-house guests.
- Is able to route all incoming calls quickly and efficiently without keeping the caller waiting.
- Completes all other shift duties as outlined on shift checklist.
- Assists in all the other areas of Front office as and when necessary.
- Is proactive and innovative, suggesting alternatives that meet guest needs in enjoying their Anantara experience.
- Maintains knowledge and abiding by all Company Policies in relation to Front Office e.g. Refunds and Cancellations and ensuring they are correctly communicated to guests if required.
- Handle Food and Beverage order efficiently and ensure to upsell.
- Facilitate all guest maintenance requests and other relevant communication to the other department through FCS.
- Send top 10 issues to GM secretary reported on the month to identify the issues and to take necessary action to prevent them.
- Develops and maintains a close and harmonious working relationship with all hotel departments.
- Participates in training programs for the Front Office Department as scheduled.
- Possesses a positive upbeat personality with a desire to deliver outstanding customer service to our guests. Team members must multi – task, be detail oriented, and be able to problem solve in order to effectively deal with internal and external customers.
- Ensures that all correspondence is processed within the set times and handled correctly according to the procedures.
- Ensure to arrange guest transfers schedule on daily basis and circulate to all relevant departments.
- Reports and maintains accurate records with documents on incidents occurring at the resort and keeps superior briefed at all times.
