Job Description Senior Petroleum Geochemist - Major Oil Company - Oman - 10-12,000 USD P/M

My client is looking to fill a highly specialised, technical position within their organisation. This role is a direct, permanent hire. My client offers the potential of an excellent opportunity to apply geochemistry to a remarkably large and varied hydrocarbon maturation portfolio - ranging from frontier exploration of unconventional gas to mature fields under established EOR schemes.

This position reports to the Team Lead for Geochemistry and Basin Modelling. The role links closely with other geological services and specialist teams, as well as the Production Chemistry department. Internal customers are 'Exploration Evaluation'; 'New Opportunities' and 'Petroleum Engineering Asset Development' teams.

The main purpose of the job is to provide expert geochemical support and advice to Exploration and Production asset customers. Other day-to-day duties will include:

- Planning, defining and monitoring QC and close-out geochemical projects (including budget/cost management)

- Identifying Geochemistry related problems and improvement opportunities and technologies

- Conduct specialist studies for integrated projects - play a leading role in defining scope and deliverables on such studies.

- Provide expert input on issues of charge risk; and all production related geochemical issues

- Manage quality control of contractor specialist studies.

Job Skills Required Education / Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Geology, with major in Chemistry and a Postgraduate qualification (PHD or MSc.) in Geochemistry

OR

- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and a Postgraduate qualification in Geoscience

- A Basin Modeler with as Geochemical background would also be potentially suitable.

Required Experience:

- Minimum 8, but ideally 10-15 years of hands-on experience associated with subsurface fluid evaluation.

- Experience in geochemistry sampling methodologies, mud gas logging techniques and hydrocarbon fingerprinting for exploration and production wells.

- Extensive knowledge of Reservoir Production Allocation

- Insight into hydrocarbon fluids and their source (which rocks they come from)

- Skilled in Analytical and Interpretation techniques/methods.

- Ability to identify Oil source and explain how hydrocarbon is moved / migrated

- Working knowledge ofMiddle Eaststratigraphy would be advantageous, but is not essential.

- Understanding of how exploration and development links to business issues/drivers.
